The stock market is a collection of exchanges and other venues where stocks (shares of ownership in companies) are traded. When you buy a stock, you become a part-owner of that company. The value of your stock can go up or down based on the company's performance, industry trends, and overall economic conditions. It's a key way for companies to raise money and for individuals to invest and potentially grow their wealth.
